Even cheaper frame counting

We've talked before about building frame counters for use in stop motion animation, or for accurate editing in single cartridge competitions - well we've just read about an even cheaper and easier way of doing this!

With a simple 'gift' type calculator and a PC sync cord you can create a simple up or down frame counter. See this Instructables article on the basic principles. Remember you'll need a calculator which after typing 1++ or 1-- will count up or down when pressing = repeatedly.

For Super 8 use, solder a PC type flash sync cable to the solder pads on the underside of where the = key is on the calculator circuit board, notch out the case for the cable and re-assemble. When you connect the other end of the the PC cable to the sync socket a running camera it should count up or down after having primed the calculator with '1++' or '1--'. Genius!

Here at onsuper8.org we're warming up our soldering iron and will post pictures when we're done! [Via Instructables]
