Supermarket - open now!

Supermarket is the latest offering from Aussie directors Dan Monceaux and Emma Sterling, who first came to our attention with the brilliant 'A Shift in Perception' which wowed us and festivals the world over.
While Dan Monceaux jams out to sequenced beats and collected samples on his retro analogue synthesizers, Emma Sterling spends her time shooting and cutting visual material, everything from found footage to original celluloid shot in vintage cameras - scratched, manipulated and projected.
The end result is Supermarket, a performed fusion of electronic break beats and experimental cinema. Their first DVD 'We Never Close' features four films which vary in approach from documentary to abstract and animated.
Two of these four films were shot on Super 8mm film (Abstractions No.3 and Urban Spice) and show unique production approaches including pulling focus during telecine, aggressive hand-developing of Tri-x, and Dan and Emma's signature photographic approaches including time lapse and pixelation. One of the other films is a digitally rendered high-contrast geometric animation inspired by the op-art movement of the 1960's.
Regular faces on the club and arts circuits in South Australia, the Supermarket team's live audio-visual show launched in November 2007 in Buffalo, New York after a month long artists' residency there. Tour dates followed in Ontario (Canada), New York, Missouri and Texas, with Canada and Japan on the slate for 2008.
